Zharity Earth's Explorers club first meeting
This time around we discussed the water cycle and discovered the many forms of water. We also learned that dinosaurs had drunk the exact same water millions of years ago that we do today. After these mind boggling discoveries we made it rain in a glass teapot. Using the knowledge we gathered from the book 'Water is water' by Miranda Paul, the kids could explain in simple terms how and why does rain form. All the while having actual rain first drizzling, then pouring down on our ever-so-smart heads.
To shake things up, we took a peek into a witch's house on our way to a field, where we (more or less) completed a water scavenger hunt. After snacking on some all-time-favorite Butterweggli-s we succeeded in catching a young newt in a close-by creek. After taking a good look at it and petting it gently (which might or might not have been appreciated) we released the amphibian right back to its favorite spot.
After that the weather decided it was time for us to go home, as an unforgiving downpour has made us call it a day.
