2022 Kit Making Wrap up

We would like to thank all our kit making volunteers. Together we have distributed more than 3500 kits both locally and internationally. That is a record for us!

In March, we distributed more than 2000 hygiene kits as part of our effort to help the Ukrainian community. Those kits were made by individuals at home, at their companies, their schools and in our unit.  From there, the kits  were loaded onto trucks and sent to Ukraine and bordering EU countries to support Ukrainian refugees.

Starting in September we began to make hygiene kits for local agencies in need. In addition, we made craft kits for local children. The 100 craft kits and more than 1000 kits were made in our unit by volunteers.

For the past month, Zharity volunteers have been working hard to supply more than 1500 Hygiene Kits to several local agencies. Through kit making sessions at our unit and some of our corporate partners hosting kit making sessions at their own facilities - we have been able to provide kits to eight local agencies.

The first two local recipient groups were agencies that serve local families. In addition, we provided kits to a group of refugee families living outside the city of Zürich. This past weekend 1350 of these kits were delivered to our partner agency, Essen für Alle, a food insecurity organisation. On Saturday, every household that received food from our partner, also received a family hygiene kit. 1000+ households were served on this day.  The remaining kits that we donated to them were shared with two other food banks located in Canton Schwyz and Graudünden.  One Monday, 150 kits were distributed to one of our partner agencies in Winterthur that supports homeless members of our community.  Today, another Winterthur group received 200 family hygiene kits to distribute in their free shop for all refugees.
In 2023, we hope to expand our efforts to work locally and internationally on a more regular basis with our partners to ensure that  we continue to support individuals most in need of essential hygiene items.

Thank you to all our volunteers for making, packing and delivering the kits to our partner agencies. We appreciate every person that made a donation of items and financial contributions toward the hygiene items. We also want to extend our gratitude to the companies that made kits and made financial donations to support this work.
