Zharity Reusable Pad THANK YOU and “Group Sewing Events”

Zharity has recently initiated a new project to make reusable feminine hygiene pads for those in need.  Our first effort will support an agency that sends these pads to women/girls in Cameroon,  and also provides education to them about menstruation.  Our goal is to provide 500 finished feminine pads for this organisation by the end of Fall 2023.  

Thanks to our wonderful Zharity members and participants, during this last month we have currently cut and prepared fabrics and materials for over 350 pads!!!  We plan to have one additional material preparation event in the early Fall.  Furthermore,  thanks to those who are supporting our efforts by sewing at home, we will have already made 100 pads through the summer!  We’d also like to thank the local businesses that supported our efforts during the material preparation events:  The Luus Muus Cafe in Egg and Cafe Rumi in Kilchberg!  

We are now calling all people who love to sew and would like to help our initiative.  We will be hosting 2 group sewing events at the Social Fabric Sewing Atelier in Fall.  All materials will have been already prepared/pre-cut and we now need your help to sew our final pads!  For this event, attendees do need prior sewing experience.  However, the pads are simple to sew and do not require advanced skills.  No need to bring any equipment or machines - Social Fabric will have everything available and ready for us to use.  We hope you can join us to help bring this goal to reality!

Cost: 20 CHF per session - or 30 CHF if you choose to attend BOTH sessions.  This cost includes a donation to Social Fabric's organization for the use of their space, supplies and equipment.  We will also serve coffee/tea and some snacks during our event.
