2024 Reusable Pad Project Launch

In honor of International Women’s Day on March 8th, Zharity is pleased to announce that we will be relaunching a new round of the reusable feminine hygiene pad project in 2024!!!  Following on the success of making close to 500 pads for an organization in Cameroon, we have a variety of organizations that we will be supporting in 2024 - some pads going to organizations within Europe and others going to a school in Ethiopia.  

We found the outpouring of support for our project so heartening and we are hoping we can count on our community’s support once again.  There are several ways you can help us!

• Material Preparation/Cutting Events:  For those who do not sew, we will be hosting several fabric preparation/cutting events over the coming months.  We take in the materials but then have to cut them to the shape for our sewing team to be able to easily/quickly sew the pads.  We already have some dates coming up on Monday, March 18th and Thursday, March 21st.  If you are interested, please sign up HERE.  

• Home Sewing Team:  For those who are sewers and have a machine at home, we are asking again for home sewers.  These folks will receive kits of pads and will sew them at home and then return them to us at a future date.  This is a great way to be involved while being able to work from home.  You can sign up to be part of this team HERE.

• Material Collections:  While Zharity needs to purchase the materials for the inside layers of the pad for their functional purposes, we use 100% cotton fabric for the outer layers of the pad design.  We also know people tend to have little “inventories” of 100% cotton layering around - especially if they are crafty.  If you happen to have clean 100% cotton fabric at home that you would like to donate (the pieces must be at least 20cm x 20cm in size), please sign up for our collections HERE.
