May 22 is Schweizer Vorlesetag

Happy Schweizer Vorlesetag! This is one of Zharity’s favorite days of the year. We love to read and we love to distribute books to our partners. We sent our hundreds of books this year to a various  partners to distribute amongst their clients. 

These included:

  • Children’s German chapter books and Tiptoi readers to local organisations focused on children and supporting their families.

  • Books for adult readers given to one of the organisations that supports adults and is providing a small free library. 

  • In addition, we had an abundance of English language books that  we were not able to distribute locally. We donated them to a local book sale held at a school that raised funds to support a scholarship fund for students in Nepal and Malawi.

  • Just like last year, we were able to provide books to a community library located in Neuchatel, providing access to literature in all languages spoken within the community. In line with their current needs, we have provided them with a variety of books that were geared toward languages spoken in the community, particularly as new residents learn French.
