Meet the Board: Chrissie Beeston
Name: Chrissie Beeston
I’ve spent the past 15 years working across Europe and Asia in commercial leadership roles—shaping products, guiding teams through change, and helping businesses grow. I’ve always been someone who loves bringing people together. Languages have been a big part of that journey (English, Dutch, and French fluently, with German slowly catching up), but so has a genuine curiosity about people and the communities they build.
When I moved from London to Switzerland, Kilchberg quickly became home. Stepping into the role of Co‑President of the Elternverein felt like a natural extension of what I care about most: creating warm, welcoming spaces where families can connect, support one another, and grow together.
What personal experiences drew you to charity work?
I’ve always been someone who feels happy when I’m helping others. Growing up and throughout my career, I naturally gravitated toward roles where I could listen, support, and make people feel less alone. Volunteering with Kinder Telefoon in Antwerp was one of the first experiences that really shaped me—being there for children and teens during tough moments taught me how powerful empathy can be.
Later, supporting literacy programs with Room to Read and getting involved in community projects reminded me how much small acts of kindness can add up. It gives me a sense of purpose and keeps me connected to the people around me.
How did you get involved with Zharity?
I first connected with Zharity in a very simple way: by donating items for the summer and winter runs. It felt good to contribute, but everything changed the day I joined a kit‑making session for Ukraine. Packing those kits—knowing they were going directly to people facing unimaginable hardship—made the impact feel real and immediate.
From that moment on, giving once a year didn’t feel like enough. I became a regular donator, then a Verein member, and slowly found myself more and more involved. Zharity has a way of pulling you in with its warmth and purpose, and I’m grateful it did.
What projects are you currently working on?
Right now, I’m pouring a lot of energy into creating a smoother, more welcoming membership experience at Zharity. There are so many people who want to help but aren’t always sure where to start, and I want to make that first step feel easy, friendly, and supported. The goal is simple: help more volunteers feel confident jumping in, and make sure they know they’re part of something meaningful from day one.
I’m also learning how to lead corporate events. It’s exciting to see companies come together around a shared purpose.
At the end of the day, none of this works without volunteers. Every hour, every skill, every bit of heart makes a difference. And the more of us there are, the more impact we can create together.
